•      Solar panels could be used in different climates

•      You can keep the lights on even during power outages.

Government Solar Energy Scheme: Nationwide Successful Implementation

The following are a few examples of successful implementations of government solar energy schemes in India:

•     Bhadla Solar Park

This solar park in Rajasthan spans over 14,000 acres and is considered the largest solar park in the world. It also boasts a capacity of about 2.25 GW.

•     Pavagada Solar Park

This solar park in the Tumkur district in Karnataka is recognized as one of the largest solar parks in Asia.

•     Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park

This solar park with a substantial installed capacity of 1 GW was commissioned in Andhra Pradesh in 2017.

•     Rewa Solar Project in Madhya Pradesh

This solar project in Madhya Pradesh with a capacity of 750 MW stands out for its sustainable practices and low tariffs.

Government Solar Panel Program: Empowering Farmers

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme is a government solar panel program that aims at enhancing farmers' income through the de-dieselization and solarizing of the agriculture sector. Under this central government scheme, farmers can avail of subsidies up to 30% or 50% of the total costs while installing new standalone solar pumps or solarizing existing grid-connected agricultural pumps.

This program also allows farmers to install grid-connected solar power plants with a capacity of up to 2 MW on their fallow or barren land. They can then sell the electricity generated to the local DISCOM at a tariff decided by the state regulator.
